Fork Rebuild - Jammed in Damper !!

I was stripping and rebuilding my forks over the week end. One went fine but the other one not...

Basically I cuold not pull out the spring and damper assembly even though i undid the screw at the bottom.

The thing seems to be just wedged somehow in the tube but there is no dents or damage to the tube at all.

 In the end I just replaced the fork seal and changed the oil and then left it as is and all seems to be working OK,  but I just wondered if anyone else had a similar problem anytime.
If you think there's light at the end of the tunnel it's usually another train !!

Probably just gunk and corrosion down at the bottom.

If you bought new hex bolts, you could have used the old ones screwed in part way to the damper (installed) and given it a few taps. It shouldn't be stuck too tight in there.

I took off the spring and then put the "brass" odd shaped nut back on the thread and used a slide hammer up on the nut.

Absolutely zero movement do you think whacking up on the screw at the base would produce a different result for some reason?
If you think there's light at the end of the tunnel it's usually another train !!

That's the one I meant. Just get a few threads started so it isn't bottomed out and has a few mm to move.
