A mate of mine buys and sells bikes, he pretty much always gives me first option on them. Today he picked up an '84 VF1000F, it is in quite nice condition. It only needs a couple of light bulbs to be ready for the road. I have been looking for a bike that is a little more comfortable than my 650 for longer trips for quite some time. The engine sounds beautiful, no tappet/cam chain noise, the exhaust on it is a little loud for my liking, but I love that V4 note
. I took it for a short ride and it definitely has balls, it just seems to pull from nowhere. It doesn't feel overly fast, but it piles on the speed damn quick. What I want to know is what are these bikes like on a longer trip, do they make a good touring machine? I have read about the cam issues they can have, but I have also read that these were sorted out during the 83 model year
. Like I mentioned before the engine runs as sweet as a nut. I'm seriously considering this one, it just seems too good to pass up, especially with the price he is asking for it
.
