76 CB750 wont start
« on: September 10, 2012, 07:20:35 AM »
I know nothing about these bikes. Just got it yesterday-replaced battery and still nothing. Headlight comes on but just clicks when I hit the button. Any tips, tricks, etc. would be helpful. Thanks.

it could be many things.
your starter could be bad. the motor could be frozen.  bad coils, wires or spark plugs.
have you gone through the whole wire harness and fuse block to check for bad connections?
download the shop manual from the site here, and start by completing a full service of the bike.

If it clicks try jumping the solenoid with a metal screwdriver or similar, this will let you know if the starter/solenoid is faulty. Does it kick over ok?
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

If it was running a week ago it should start on the kick.

Try charging the battery a few hours even though new. After charging let it sit 2 hours then check voltage. Should be 12.6 or higher.
+1 Lester if headlight burns it should kick. When you jump the solenoid it is the two large studs.

Might be a little obvious, but check that you have plenty of gas in the tank.  Fill the tank up or switch it to reserve if some is in there... ask me how i know  ;D
