Brass fuel outlet tube pulls out of petcock.
« on: January 11, 2023, 12:45:58 AM »
As the title says, the brass outlet tube pulled out of the petcock when I was trying to remove the rubber fuel hose. 750K2
I am certain that this has been done before by many folk but the search button is a mysterious thing to me and never seems to work.
So I am wondering what the accepted fix for this is if one wants to stick the brass fuel outlet tube back in?.
Thank you

Take a centre punch and gently tap it into the pipe end that goes into the alloy to flare it out a bit then epoxy it in

Search tip in Google

"Terms you search" site:forums.sohc4.net

That will give you a list of hits on the site. The site's engine search is far from very helpful many times. I rarely use it because it doesn't work 85% of the time.

JB Weld is generally the epoxy most use successfully with tip that  Old Moe Toe provided.

When you pull the hose from the petcock's pipe, it's best done by twisting the hose hither and thither whilst pulling.

I always add a small amount of JB Weld and tap them back in. They never come out again.

I've got a few that the tube can be pulled out. I just slightly tap them back in, no problems.

I've cleaned the end and slightly scuffed with some sandpaper and tapped back in with a little bit of Seal-All.

When getting the hoses off I generally spray a little wd40 or the like around the end and leave for a few minutes. Remove from rear fixing of tank and prop up a little to give more room if hoses allow. Then as stated twist and pull and pry down on the end of the hose with a driver is well affixed.
