Hi Colin,

I hope this Davies frame has a longer live then ours.
We  had no 10.

I've heard that Davies has gone bankrupt , is that true ?

Yolks arrived this mornings with shocks to follow tomorrow . Big thanks to John Davies at John Davies Motor sport for his help and support . Lovely bit of kit ( not John ---- the yolks !!)

To much offset for this yokes , cause very slow handling
See the picture for our yokes. ( in MM)

that doesn't look enough offset  , you have effectively increased the trail making the steering even slower  this sort of offset would only work with a very steep steering head angle .

A friend of us has also a Davies framed 500 with the Davies yokes and he is not satisfied with it and want to change to the yokes we use.
On our bike these small ofset yokes worked very good.
A standard Honda has a stearing head angle of 26 deg. and a Davies 24,5 deg.

Sorry for being a pedant Colin, but all this talk of YOLKS is making me hungry!  ;D

Yolks are found in eggs, bikes usually have YOKES. Perhaps our American cousins are right by avoiding confusion with their TRIPLE TREES?  ;)

hi howell
you say that to much offset causes very slow handling  , my point was that this is the exact opposite of what happens . the less the offset the more the trail the slower the steering [ this is not subjective it is physics ].
the one and a half degrees change in head angle would only require a change of a few mm in offset [ if you really want i can work it out for you , will just need a few measurements ] not the huge change you have made .
i run slightly more offset on my aprilias which have a head angle of 21 degrees and a 17 inch wheels .
a bike with a head angle of 24.5 degrees using your yokes and an 18 inch wheel would be very slow steering at speed , i would hate to have to change direction on it mid corner .

Well at least you get to race another day Col, no harm done to the motor and more importantly none to you.
It was hell of a job just getting it race ready in the time that you had, well done mate.

Well done Colin. We don't know one another, but I have to say for you to get out on the new framed bike in such a short space of time is nothing short of amazing.
