OK, its back..... CB350G cafe
« on: August 18, 2012, 09:02:53 AM »
Here is the bike back on track after a long time. I've moved from the project section.
I'll get back with you on the details.  Let me know what you think.

Very nice! Mine blew up this spring.

Mine has blown up twice and its back again for more. I think I have a some kind of timing advance issue and is killing the pistons. It seems to be ignition related. What killed yours?

The engine has a slightly shaved head with some porting and reseating on the valves. I also have a slipper camchain installed and a Hondaman ignition box.

The seat is just about ready for the padding and cover on the custom aluminum tail section.

Don't really know what happened to it; I had it professionally rebuilt and then after a 40 min ride it just died. Reeked of burnt oil, compression bye bye. I put my heart and soul into that bike too.
Anyway, I hope you get many happy miles out of yours!

Did you pop the plugs and inspect the pistons? Mine looked like a donut. :-\

Parked it, tarped it, forgot it.

You may just do an engine swap and be save yourself some time and expense. I think I have some extreme early detonation going on at high temps. Not sure if its cam/advance related or something else. After two rebuilds I'm still not sure what it is.

Progress is still slow but the seat will go in tomorrow for vinyl and a bracket for the windscreen is also being made in the interim of the seat being off. I shouldn't guess when I'll have it back but maybe 2 weeks.

Here is an update pic. I may have her back in 2-3 weeks. The tail looks a bit out of sorts with the rest of the bike but still very cool. I'm thinking of white grips and maybe a bit of red on the tail.

It's an Airblade.
I'm thinking White grips and some Avons would finish it off nicely.

Just got back from an inaugural ride on the CB350G Cafe. Bike fires right up and runs strong with the Hondaman ignition box. The bike sounds phenomenal with the custom stainless exhaust. It looks killer and I'm thrilled! My wife even got me a cool new Bell 500 helmet with a rad yellow visor from my big bro. I'm soo happy!
