Hi

I'm a dude from Sweden who had just bought me a motorcycle. I'm 24 years old and almost finished master in mechanical engineering with specialization in power plant, gasturbines etc.

The motorcycle is a CB750 K2 first time registerd 1974 but made in 1973 (between 72-75 thy only K2 shipped to Sweden). I bought it for ome weeks ago for about $ 3800 and are very pleased with the deal. In Sweden and all europe they are quite expensive for that old bike, average price for a nice CB750 is about 6000 dollars and above.

Things I've done so far:
- Changed all spark plugs
- Changed the front sprocket, rear sprocket and switched to an O-ring chain
- Oil for front fork

Things I want to change / do:
- Switching to dual front brake discs. I've already got myself extra disc, calipers, caliper arm for $ 76!
- Change to steel braided brake hoses.
- Switching to a lower handlebar, like high rise clip-ons. Do not really like the very low riding position with standard clip-ons.
- Change to the original / cooler fork ears / headlight mount
- Any change to the smaller lights. It depends on how it looks in the interaction with the other.
- Renovate and fix the seat. Current foam has dried and disintegrated.
- Sometime during the years, valve cover, front sprocket cover and generator cover been chromed. And im going to "dechrome" it and fix the aluminum finish.

That's all I know I want to do now, more will surely come :)

So all posts, comments, feedback, criticism, love and hate are welcome.
I appreciate the tips on where I can buy, how I can proceed with my wishes.

Since I have a lot in school and the Swedish motorcycle season ends in a few weeks for winter break will be a slow-moving projects, slowly but surely :)

Here are some pictures of the beast

Where are the pics Viktor? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Here is my so far parts for the dual disc modification.
I have one extra caliper arm, the later model with "three holes mountin". So if anyone would like to buy it give me and offer :D

But minus one caliper arm, this is what i got for 76 $.

Soon im going to use a greasegun or the mastercylinder to force out the caliper piston (they are unused since -85).
Then "glass blasterd" both calipers and both rotors to get rid of the paint, and then polish up the Alu, and finally a couple of varnish layers. I think the alufinish is a bit cleaner and then the black :D

get new brake fluid sealing to both caliper and hopfully no new pistons. Then finaly some new brake pads, any tips about manufacturer and materials ?

as i said, ANY tips and all the do and donts is more then welcome !

Im not really sure of what you mean :D
if you mean the rims they are original and the tires i dont really know any measurements other than 120mm wide. The bike is 200 km from me so i cant check :(
But maybe its the angles that makes it look small :)

Edit: I have meassured it (while it was still on the bike) and it was between 48-46 cm = 18 inches give or take :)

Well i have got the information that in the US it quite easy to rechrome (expensive in Sweden due to environmental laws). So maybe its much cheapier then buying 4 new ones..... But they are got damn sexy !

Today I hooked up a greasegun to get release the caliper piston, worked fine but i think the piston was quite stuck cause the grease came out from everywhere :)

The Piston looks really fine, so no use of a new one... Does anyone know "how good" the condition of the caliper cylinder walls "should" be ? And what i could do to make it better...

- Grease gun hook up.
- the piston is really smoth and the "white stuff" is just dust...
- the cylinder "looks" worse then it feels. Its a little bit corroded on some spots, but its only cosmetical. You cant feel anything.

I have been thinking on the handlebars.
And i heard and collected some info about the clip-ons to a Honda VF500. The are what i want, higher and clip-ons. As earlier mentioned i dont really like the "ulta low" driver possition when using the "low" clip-ons.

But The are for a 37 mm fork. BUT that wouldnt be any problem right, i mean 1mm steel between and problem solved, right ? even a clip on for like 39 mm forks would be ok, 2 mm steel "schimm" between the fork legs and the handlebar.
Does anyone know if this is OK ? any problems ?

cause i have trouble finding decent clip-ons for a decent price. but if im allowed to use a "bigger" clip on my searching area grows substantially :)

So hit me with info about "older racing, super sport" bikes with clip-ons !

If you dechrome your covers, they will probably not look like the originals, the lettering and lines will get smoothed partly off. WWAAAAAYYYYYYY cheaper to polish a good set, and get good money for yours.. but hey if you want to spend money to find that out, go ahead..

Machine a shim with a small lip bigger than 37 mm, then slit the sleeve.. the lip keeps sleeve staight, and from hanging out somewhere.

But as you can tell of the pictures they aren´t in any good condition so i dont se why anyone would pay for that, since you, would have to rechrome them to make it look nice.

In Europe its "no market" for chromed enginecovers, and only the shipping to US would be like 50-100$

You can also find a variety of aftermarket clip-ons on ebay with the specific fork diameter.  If you choose to go higher-end Tarrozzi makes some beautiful high rise clip-ons that are available from Jim Hinshaw at Fast from the Past.

Thanks for the tips, but most of the Ebay clip-ons are looooow :) they have some "higher" or adjustable, bet those are for like 48 mm fork legs, which would be to big. The Tarrozzi high rise clip ons are sweet, but a bit pricey for me, but who knows maybe thats just what ill will have to pay to get what i want :D

My bad, in US they are at 130$+ international shipping, it was in SWEDEN they where a bit pricey 261$+National shipping. Not that pricey, and the look really sweet :D
