Proper cable end soldering
« on: September 17, 2012, 05:51:09 PM »
So I shortened my clutch cable and soldered on a new brass cable.  This lasted about 320mi before it came off this afternoon.  Anyone have a good process for ensuring this won't happen to me again?

I have yet to do it myself but I intend to follow the instructions in this video to the letter:

How to shorten and solder motorcycle control cables

Maybe there's something in their that helps.

Rick.

Yeah I'm going to re-solder (braze lucky braze) this one and also order a shortened one from MotionPro.  I figure this homemade one will be my back up.

I don't think you drill that wire is tuff. Heat it and push it out the way it went in.
