You should ride an F...they handle like a dream.
These bikes were at the time, beyond the limits of most riders and still are.
These bikes are not your grandpas K, If you just want to cruise around, then K's are cool but if you have the skills and  want to ride a vintage bike from the Honda SOHC era...get the F!

Not hard to make a K handle mate, use to embarrass a few big Kawasaki's back in the day....

Retro, good point but the F in stock form will allways out handle a K.
The F or the K in stock form will never out accelerate a Z-900.

Yes, a stock 750 will never out accelerate a 900 but they handle better and corners are where its at.... As for the F and K bikes, its more up to the rider than the bike, both were pretty good handling bikes in the right hands, they both had the same limitations...

trust me, i tried!  but none of my keys worked....  !!!   ::) ::)  haha just kidding.  actually, the guy on the DOHC came out and i annoyed him with questions and compliments for a few minutes.  however, judging from his responses, i don't think he actually did any of the work himself.

it seemed to run OK when he fired it up, though - although he was winding it up pretty high.  i notice a lot of people say that the DOHCs suck with pods on them (at least, everyone on the DOHC forum does) -- kind of worries me since i would *like* to run pods on my DOHC 750 that i'm working on now.  i have read that putting restrictors on the pods will help with that.  anyone have any experience?   if so, please PM or post in my DOHC thread (linked in my sig) :)

I can't see how there were enough differences between sohc fs and ks to be that noticeable. same frame, minor engine changes, the Fs carried a fair amount of extra weight. The braking should have been better due to the extra discs. I've always seen it as a styling exercise. If I'm off the mark I don't mind being told though :)

Stock carbs on these engines are CV sliders which means if there is not enough vacuum from the airbox, the sliders wont work! They're heavy sliders. Keep the stock airbox and paper filter for best operation with CV carbs.

K&N CAN be used if you like having a reusable filter, but the airflow offset does cause flat spots around 5000-6000 rpm which sucks cause thats usualy highway cruising speed.

Air box and paper filter is the only way to go unless you have unlimited resources with a dyno and time to burn pulling and rejetting and pulling and rejetting until you almost have it right but, you will never ever improve on these carbs. All you will do is make them work almost as good as they did when they were stock.

+1...actually, the f has a longer swingarm and more rake/trail (I think)...which would make it turn slower, ...probably more stable though
If it works good, it looks good...

Trail is 3.7 inches for the K and 4.5 for the F and the rake is 27 and 28 degrees......a noticeable difference in stability.  Overall the F is a better handling bike.  The F0/1 is 20 lbs heavier....not sure where it all comes from but most may be from the rear disc...it's down low so not that big a deal to me.

I currently own both, a 76F and 70K. To me the F feels like a larger bike, after riding it my K0 feels like a 450. The K turns in quicker and feels lighter even though the weight  isn't much different. My F does have triple discs.

All that awesomesness does carry a small weight penalty.

My 1980 750F is a much larger bike than my K1's. The distance to the handle bars on the DOHC is larger but the distance from the seat to the footpegs seems less than the SOHC's. My hips give me trouble now riding the DOHC F. Old age creeping in I guess plus long legs (34"). The F seems to flop into the corners a bit and needs more countersteering than my K's too. However I enjoy riding both all of them! Cliff.
