74 Honda CB750 project
« on: October 23, 2014, 01:28:16 PM »
Well a few years ago I built a 75 CB750 brat bike that got a lot of attention over the years and a lot of hate and a lot of love on this forum :-). So I found a really nice 74 CB750 which is going to be my winter project this year 8)

Here is a pic of the starting point:

A lot of us here would be very sad to see this one get ratted out. But let me call dibs on whole bunch of stuffs if that were to happen.

polished up the cases and when I put them back on they just didn't match the rest of the bike because they looked too good compared to the rest of the bike and seeing as how to properly polish the valve cover the engine would have to come out. So I made the decision to fully restore this bike from the frame up, everything will be getting redone over the winter :-)

cases off:

polished up cases:

back on the bike for the time being:

Time to strip it down to the frame now!!!

This one is getting a full frame off restoration pretty much back to the way it would have rolled off the showroom floor :-)…….. except for a oem euro handle bar.

That's a relief ;)

Yeah once you start polishing one piece, you have to pretty do the whole bike.

Looking really nice!

Thanks goldarrow! As soon as I polished up the cases I realized how bad the rest of the bike looked and its actually in really nice shape overall. I figured a nice fully restored CB750 will look good in my little collection and next to my brat style CB750

Nothing wrong with that sunflake orange man. True 70's style that is...and you have company :) Is that tank paint original and as nice as the pic? How is the fading?
