Pulling in the clutch turns on speedo and tach lights??
« on: September 17, 2012, 03:52:40 PM »
Hey everyone its me again  :-\ Im having quite a strange issue with the ole girl. i noticed the other night when i forgot to turn the headlight and running lights on that when i pull in the clutch (mind you the light switch is off) the speedo and tach light up. There doesnt seem to be any adverse affects when it does it, and when the light switch is on everything works as it should headlight, turns, brake and indicators. Im confused as to why it would do this, even after looking at the wiring diagram ( which i almost know like the back of my hand now ). If you have any suggestions any and all will be appreciated as always thanks yall.

I'd check in the headlight shell. Look at your clutch sw wires and re check what you have them plugged into. I don't know what bike you have so I can't look up its schematic. Often clutch switches are black wires. Maybe their connected to the wrong blacks in the shell.

Put your bike in gear and then try to start it with the clutch pulled in.  If the starter won't turn then your clutch switch is not enabling your starter, it's enabling gauge lights instead.  Find the clutch switch on your diagram and you should be able to straighten it out.  -Chuck

Its a 75' CB750K5 sohc. Thats the part thats so confusing to me is it will start while in gear with the clutch pulled (kick and starter), and does not try to crank when the clutch is not applied like it shouldnt. I just got done re-doing my step dads botch job he did to the turn signals and dont remember seeing anything out of place except the positive lead for the turn signal buzzer which i disconnected (can hardly hear it with the pipes i have on her anyway) I was just checking to see if anyone else has had this issue before, guess ill be busting out the Multi-meter out tomorrow. Thanks for the quick reply's guys! much appreciated.

O ps does anyone know where or if i should post the wiring diagram for my bike? all i could ever find online were black and whites so i took the time to make a colored version.
