cb750: putting a supersport hub on a K bike?
« on: July 01, 2006, 02:20:52 PM »
what would be involved in coverting a K bike to a rear disk besides the obvious (needing a hub, rear master, etc.)? will an F hub and disk fit in a K swingarm? are there mounts missing on a K swingarm for the m/c, etc?

the bike is a K3.

The caliper arm mounting boss is missing in the K arm. If you get an early F arm I would think it would work in regard to swingarm pivot width. The F arm is slightly longer if I remember correctly...no big deal. Mounting the master cylinder would require some thought.

Like this, do that............ ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

That's a late F arm too.

You are correct Paul, it's:
K0 or K1 frame, (can't remember, but very early CB750)
F2 swingarm,
Suzuki GSXR 1000 rearsets.

Cheers, Terry. ;D

I used a 76F swingarm in my K2 along with the F hub, disc, torque arm etc. It dropped straight in.
The 76F caliper is a dual piston cumbersome item which is very heavy and too strong for a back brake. It was substituted for a F2/900/cbx rear caliper, which also fits staight in.
For the mastercylinder I chose a VF750 as it was easily fitted by making up a plate and fitting to the frame. The hardest part was making the linkage from the pedal to the MC
If you use a K swing arm it could be done, but would need some machining of the caliper arm boss and also I think a spacer being made up basically to get the chain alignment right. Also you would need to weld a bracket for the torque arm which goes on top for the disc compared to underneath for the drum brake.
