one of two pistons on twin piston caliper not compressing
« on: September 19, 2012, 06:05:18 AM »
Hello all, I've searched and searched and read every way and trick to bleed calipers(although I haven't tried them all admittedly) but basically, I've got my two twin piston calipers on my 82 650SC, cleaned, new seals and polished all the pistons, cleaned the MC, no crud in the small pinhole.  One side bleeds and tighten and releases perfectly, the other side bleeds out all the air, but only one piston of the two is tightening and releasing.  I popped the piston in question out using the brake lever, tons of fluid behind it, seals are seated properly, popped it back in, bled with mityvac, and then lever/speed bleeders until there was no more air, still the same problem.

It needed alot more stroke to get it to move/pop out than the "manual spec'd 10mm? stop from the handle bar" bleeding procedure.  The caliper tightens up properly(might just be the top piston working) when the brake lever is pulled(it engages almost at the handlebar) but when released, I can wiggle the bottom half of the caliper.  The top half is tight but released, just like the other caliper.

Any thoughts? Thanks!
