Newb from CO
« on: September 19, 2012, 07:35:46 AM »
Hey everybody!

Nate here from Colorado. Just bought a 1976 cb750F with 17k on it. Here's a few pics:

I previously had a '93 Yamaha FZR600 which is what got me into the love of motorcycles. I bought the CB in order to have something to work on and to customize it a little.

I'm looking forward to using this place as an awesome resource as I work on it!

Thanks,
-Nate

Welcome to the site, a great wealth of information provided here will help you along with your new journey. Also you have quite a nice starting point with that 750.

Thornton. The last time I rode it was when I bought it in Aurora. It's currently in this state:

HondaMan, thanks! I'm selling it if you're interested. I'm in the process of making my own seat pan and having it professionally upholstered so I don't need it any more.

That's awesome that so many of you all are close. Might be hitting you up if I run into any issues. The bike has since been completely stripped down and have everything either rebuilt or cleaned up (except for the engine which already seemed in great shape). Not looking forward to working on the electrical...I'm a photographer not an electrician! Ha

Give me a shout if you need . I'm pretty good at F's and have a LOT of info. Bought mine 4/75 and have been playing with it ever since. Full restore with top of the line high performance engine build currently.

Electricals are NOT fun. Hate it. Hope you don't need much. You have the main components like alternator parts, voltage regulator and rectifier that are easy to check then it goes dowhill from there like fuse block, MANY connectors to clean &/or replace and ignition switch plus controls. Lots of wires which is usually not a problem. Save the electricals for last. Hopefully they won't need much or anything as long as it's charging properly. Maybe at the least clean all the connectors, make sure they are tight then reconnect using dielectric grease.
