Barbers in Oct, Who's going?
« on: September 19, 2012, 01:18:36 PM »
I tried searching for this thread instead of making a new one.  But the search does not work.  So sorry if this has been asked several times already.
I was curious who is attending? I know I don't participate on this forum a bunch or any forum for that matter.  I have two jobs it keeps me busy.
Our company Cafe Fabrications will have a booth space at the Ace Cafe Corner.  So come swing by and say hello if you there.  We will have beer.  Just ask Grant or Jesse and tell us your from this forum and BAM you will have a cold beer in your hand.  Just like that.

We're (Me, My Wife & Her Kids) looking to be there too! Hoping to hook up with those who make it.  ;)  Looks like we are going to be there Saturday, this time and maybe all weekend, next year.

Grant - great news about setting up in the Ace Corner!

We (DO THE TON) are going to be there with bells on as the 'entry way' into Ace Corner.  So make sure if you swing by Barber to drop in on us.

Tim

I did mention that we would be attending in the Sticky Thread on DTT but that thing has gotten so big I think things start getting lost.  Either way I will see you there.  Please introduce yourself.  I know a few people came to Mid Ohio but never introduced themselves. Look forward to seeing you in AL.

Just in case you were there last year and are not aware of the fact, the ace corner is not free this year.

I will be there.  Working in the museum Saturday morning and wandering around Saturday afternoon.

Unfortunately that area is a "pay for entry" though.  For me, I probably won't be there especially if I bring my kids again this year.  It would be nice to see some of you folks though.

Yes, the Ace Corner is $10 extra per day for access, which gives you access to the best views of the track, bike parking, the only place to buy beer, fish&chips, live music, the Cafe Racer Girls :D etc.

Last year we all set up at the top of the hill (only G on the map below), while the bottom area was all Ducati stuff (Ducstock).  This year, the Ace Corner is the entire area.  At the bottom of the hill you'll find many vendors, bikes on display, the live music stage etc. etc. etc.  At the top of the hill you'll find the Ace Cafe setup and more.

DO THE TON (the group I run) is setting up the 'Entry Way' immediately off the ring-road.  We'll have many of our member bikes on display (hopefully dozens), a number of pop-up tents with some of the fancier bikes rotating in and out, an ongoing bike build project etc.  This area is FREE and serves as the staging area to the Ace Corner which is through the tunnel.

For those who haven't been, this is a little video I shot of me, Jason from Dime City Cycles and Kevin from Loaded Gun Customs doing our morning 'commute' to the festival, including a ride up into what this year will be the Ace Corner and a pan around showing the views.

It's about 7:45AM and you'll see Mark Wilsmore of the Ace Cafe sitting enjoying a very early morning coffee while watching AHRMA racers warm up the track.

Oh, and I should mention the Saturday night festivities at the top of the hill, and the 'after party' at a DO THE TON member's property in Moody Alabama, just 15 minutes or so from Barber.  It's going to be EPIC with who-knows how many people coming (100-200?).  BYOB!  Kiley hosts whoever wants to camp out on his property every year, and for this year's event built a new MASSIVE 1000+ sq ft. workshop and just put in a full toilet/shower off the shop for the use of people hanging out.

Here's a video of walking into Kiley's place.  The new shop is in an area just off camera (video taken in 2010)

DO THE TON Alabama 2010 - walking into Kiley's place

Truly going to be insane and huge and the most fun we've had all year.  Here are some pics of the event, including some of last year's Saturday Night party.  We're expecting 2-3 times as many people this year, perhaps more.
