400f oil filter
« on: July 02, 2006, 01:02:14 PM »
bought my bike in bits, these springs and washers seem to be for the oil filter, I'm assuming the shortest spring and washer are the parts to use, can anyone confirm this please.
spring1 - 27mm long
spring2 - 22mm long
washer - 3mm thick
diameters are all identical

I rhink one of those springs is for the oil pickup, it just pushes the "funnel" and screen down onto the sump.
The filter should have one spring and one very thin washer.

Hello.

The longer spring is the sump screen spring. Hope this helps!

already fitted the sump screen spring, I think it was a different diameter and longer.

Honda still sells the parts for the oil filter assembly.  You could go to the Honda shop, buy a filter or something so it doesn't look like you want free information and then ask them which parts are right.  they should be happy to help.

thanks Dave, got to take it all off again when carbs are ready but couldn't resist seeing what it will look like when done.
