1975 CB750F wiring problem
« on: August 16, 2013, 11:33:17 AM »
Hi there,
I looked into my wiring harness and I noticed that few wires aren't connected. This is a 1975 CB750F SuperSport.
as it shows in this picture
http://postimg.org/image/bn6rp324f/
I noticed that when I drained the oil no light comes on. So maybe one of these wires suppose to be for oil?
As indicated on the picture, number 1,2,3 aren't connected.
Number 4 is a fuse, what is the purpose of that? What does it do?

I couldn't post the pic on this forum. It keeps telling me the size is too big. And when I re-sized it, you couldn't really see it clearly.

Thanks

2 is the only stock wiring. That 'connector' must have been installed for an aftermarket item. Fairing perhaps? Where is the headlight bucket? You need to take a look at the wiring diagram and see what the wiring colors are for.

Open a free photobucket.com acct and link from there using the 'img' link. Copy 'img code'then paste directly. No resizing necessary.

+1 on  something aftermarket. Fairing? Lights? Heated grips? Could be any or none of those, if whatever it was isn't there anymore I'd be tempted to check the wiring diagram and put it back to stock.

You wouldn't expect a light to come on draining your oil. The oil light comes on with ignition, and goes out shortly after when there is sufficient oil pressure.

Agreed, those blue connectors definitely scream aftermarket.  I would guess lights for a fairing or something.  The fuse is just there to isolate that circuit, sort of another clue it is some other item attached to the bike (although clearly not anymore).  I'd take it out if you've got nothing to put up there, and get it back to stock.  It should make it a lot cleaner in your headlight bucket as well :)

This will give you better idea what wires go to what.. I do believe all CB750s wiring
were the same , with very few changes.
