Exhaust 341's & 300's Discontinued...
« on: September 24, 2012, 12:57:51 PM »
I just got back from my dealer. I was checking on the availability of the 300's and 341's and was told they are no longer being made. The only pipe available right now is 341 pipe #1. The four HM300 pipes all come back "discontinued". He talked to the Honda rep who told him they will no longer be supplying pipes for these old CB750K's. What the heck? Did any of you guys hear about this? I wonder if there is a way we can band together to let them know our feelings?

I don't know what heading under the Yamiya site I can not find them??? I will check Silver, but a friend said he could not get a #2 pipe of the 341's from them. I just bought an entire 341 set in spring 2012 with no problems. Did not know we were coming to this? I wonder if someone is making them for the other dealers or if those are just left overs? So when Silver Spares, CMSNL, etc. are gone we are out of luck???

David Silver Spares also carries repro 341 exhausts for less money than the "OEM".

Just visited the DSS site.  No HM 300's available.

Under the complete genuine HM341 set the following was stated:"An original set of exhausts for all 4 cylinders, baring the factory stamp HM341. This set is suitable to fit onto the K0 & K1 but does not have a removable baffle and does not  have the HM300 factory stamp." (4 sets in stock)

The replacement HM341's (replica) are out of stock.

This does not sound good for the HM300's.

E-mail sent to DSS.

At least the big box in my basement is looking good.  ;D

Makes me want to stop restoring these bikes if I can not get the OEM exhaust anymore.

I just checked myself and you're right they're not listed.  But I've seen that before where they're not listed and then they're back presumably when they produce some more.  They did have the no number pipes - not correct for later K0's.  If you really want 300's or 341's I would check back.  There's obviously a bigger market for them than the no number pipes.

Wow, this would suck, but then I have a new set of 341's in my garage that I purchased shortly after buying my bike.  Guess maybe I should move them to the safe?  ??? ;D

Try restoring a British bike.  There are no OEM spares anymore except for NOS stuff or reproduction.  The aftermarket will fill the demand if Honda won't.  I think there probably isn't as much demand as we all think though.  Lots of people talk about getting the OEM exhausts but how many does Honda actually sell anually.  I would guess less than 1,000.  Just food for thought.

Following is the response I received from DSS.

Dear Sir,
You are correct in saying that the 300 and 341 type exhaust pipes are now discontinued.  We can still supply the 341 pipes from stock at present but not the 300 type at this time.  Hopefully replica pipes will be available next year.  If you require genuine 341 pipes please order now to avoid disappointment.
Regards
Mark

Has anyone actually seen the reproduction pipes that DSS is selling ?    The price is almost that of what the Honda were.

Suppose these are made by the same people that were supplying Honda ?  The ones everyone was complaining about - bad chrome etc ?

And how is this replica set a fraction of cost of original?  Is NOS set cost that much?

If I remember right. Last year when the chrome problems were arising 1099 for 341s plus shipping on E-bay. I had My Honda shop price them around the same and of course I could of seen them in person before taking delivery without shipping. Wish I had done that. Shields and hardware weren't included in the e-bay/dealers price. I bought 550k pipes from my dealer in 2008 for just under 800. That was a purchase I don't regret.

Speaking of the chrome problems with these pipes...here are a couple pics of what I sent back. No shine...looked like someone hit them with a bead blaster. I wonder what happened to those pipes? I think it was 4 that I returned to Honda before I even left the dealership. The rep told the dealer there were no more in the USA warehouses...finally one came direct from Japan. They did take pretty good care of me.

Pretty shabby looking Johnie to be new pipes that you paid big $$ for. Don't blame you a bit for sending them back until you got a good set. As you know if you've checked out some other threads I need a decent used #2 341 pipe witch would give me a complete set for my K6. So if you run across one by chance somewhere please let me know and I'll be sure to put in a good word to MM for you ;D

DHall - you have a sweet looking K6, how much would you spend for a good #2?
$2-300 shipped? Consider this: buy the repop from DSS, then sell your 3 good pipes and the 4-1 and you'll possibly be spending that same amount of money but have brand spanking new exhaust.  Just a thought...
