"flaming dragon" cl350 an cl450 tank
« on: September 25, 2012, 05:34:32 PM »
Found a guy on cl earlier with a picture of a honda box labled tank an side covers emailed him asked what was inside
his reply: with a couple pictures attacked
Actually the tank is a special order Honda "Flaming Dragon" set for the 72-73 CL350.  For an extra $114.00, Honda offered this set up to help out CL350 and CL450 sales as the XL250, CR250M, and early enduro's had affected sales drastically.  It is in the Muscrat Green Metallic and Purple swirl but the set isn't for sale.   Here are a couple pictures though, as they are kind of tough to find and most people haven't seen them.  I've got a matching set for both the CL350 and the CL450 and would like to build both bikes one day.  There were three color schemes, this set, Silver and Purple swirl, and Gold and Purple Swirl.  Thanks, Dave

many of you guys seen those anyone have them on their bike
75-550 ffsc sold, 78-550 diamonte sold, 125s grasshopper sold, 76-550 puma sold, 78-550 tracker sold, 74-550 verde diablo Sold, 74-550 Noemani finished trying to sell. 72 500 hartail in the works

Nice find, you can actually do that at home with a rubber-maid bin and some chemicals (I forget exactly).  It used to be a thing to dip guitar (stratocaster) bodies in the stuff, but I can't say I've seen a motorcycle painted this way.

You can use borax in the water. There's other methods too and they all take practice to get results like that.
