10K ohm resistor spark plug caps
« on: September 28, 2012, 08:32:53 AM »

So NGK doesn't make 10K resistor spark plug caps that will fit our plugs (CB750). Is there any other options out there that people know about? 5K are all I can find.

You can get 5k plug caps and 5k resistor plugs as well I believe for the same net effect.

^^This^^

However, only the cb550/500s had 10K ohm plug caps AFAIK.  All the 750s had 5K ohm caps, with or without resistor plugs.

What makes you say the CB750s had 10K plug caps from the factory?

I didn't say they had them from the factory, I was just wondering if they can be had anywhere. I am doing some aftermarket ignition upgrades and need 10K resistor caps. Thanks for the help. When it comes to this sort of thing I am clueless. I read someplace in another thread that you want to keep your resistance in one place, so only use resistor type plugs or caps but not together. Is there any fact to that?

The idea is to have all your eggs in one basket basically. Like how yeah sure you can have three, four very sound wire splices but in reality a whole wire is best

It will work just fine but it eliminates variables and possible discrepancies/variations to minimize the sources of resistance.

Caps age, spark plugs degrade so resistance goes up.

Bottom line the 5 and 5 will work but 10 would be optimal

That's a great analogy and makes sense. Thanks.
