how different are the motor mounts on a cb750 to a cb500

looking at modifying a 750 hardtail section to fit a 72cb500  frame.  if not, id like to use the whole hardtail frame on the 750 and move mounts to fit the 500 motor. Are both the stock frames the same width..

Nope. The 500 frame (well i'm referring to 550's) but the 550's are an inch or so narrower.

You couldn't really just put one of the preassembled 750 hardtail frame sections on one of those.......it would need to be custom made

 The 750 has 3 frame rails at rear of tank, its approx 7 inches wide..the 500 at same spot is about 2 1/2 ish...
