Topic: After cam swap, won't start | Block off pics

Hopefully I can shed some light on what's going on.  I'm headed to see him and his bike in just a few minutes.  It's always hard to diaignose via pictures, video.  So far I don't see anything majorly wrong with this engine, but hopefully seeinng it first hand will help.

I'm pretty sure the exhaust port and timing were things from previously that I already had cleaned. Trav-i and I got the valves out (mostly Trav-i). I dropped the sump and found my puck and cam sprocket chip (and some other stuff). I took the stator cover off and everything looked good.

At this point, I am going to plan to take everything apart, blast all the cases and put back together. I plan to hone the cylinders and lap the valves and probably replace the rings. So, I guess this thread will be dead and you can follow my build thread if you are interested. Hopefully, it will all go back together and work perfectly forever after and we'll never know what the noise was  .

Not much to expand on. I was dredging the sump and picked out a few bits and pieces. Who knows what all could have accumulated down there since last time the sump was taken off.

millerza: The top end is completely off. I am going to hone the cylinders, replace rings, dethrone the engine, blast, paint, and put everything back together. Only then will I know if it still squeaks and hopefully it won't. Either way, it will be a few months.

Yeah, I am going to do the rings. They are cheap. I'm a little miffed cause I bought a top end gasket set...and now I am planning to do the full thing. Is it possible to get the rest of the gaskets or should I just buy a full set and try to resell the top end set?

Yes. It currently resides in its regal shrine: enthroned in the frame.

Return the topend gaskets kit an get a complete vesrah kit- sirius con inc is a good spot to pick one up

I would say there is something going on at #3 cyl.
Piston top looks different in pics plus you can see where exhaust has been leaking.
 Removing alternator cover would be a simple smart move, easy to see if anything has been rubbing (it's been know to shift if bike falls over)
 Is there really a shiny area around valve seats?
