cb400f clutch bearing replacement?
« on: October 04, 2012, 08:09:00 PM »
I've been looking around but can't find how to remove the bearing from the clutch lifter plate so I can replace with a new bearing. #130 needs to be removed from the inside of the bearing and #121 needs to be removed from the outside. Do I need to press them out?

Kyre,
Dunno about the 400f difference to 750 - but my 750 lifter plate bearing almost jumped out at me. Not held in like any "mother stuck" bearing I've encountered. I just warmed the plate over with a hot air gun, held it up at eye level to decide whether to push, pull and it fell out. I bought a replacement lifter plate and the bearing just fell into the hole of that plate without use of hammer, puller, screwdriver or alcohol.
Hope yours is as obliging.
Mark

Well that's the problem, I tried heating it up but it won't budge and this bearing is shot. A friend has a press which I'll try this weekend, I just don't want to bend or break anything.

the old one will knock out ok,if you support the housing and use a socket that fits the outer of the new bearing but clears the housing youll be able to knock the new one in fine.
