Headlight speedo combo
« on: October 04, 2012, 09:21:37 AM »
When I was at barber Motorsport museum I got my first taste of more vintage styling and I really really like the embedded speedo with addition indicators (neutral light and the like).

Does anybody know where I could find a head light speedo to buy or a small enough speedo to embed in mine now? (I feel like the later isn't possible, not much room in there).

you'll probably need a longer bucket.
check BCR, and Roc City Cafe Racers (spitfire headlight bucket)
old BMW R bikes had them...

HONDA CL72 and CL77 (250 & 305cc Scrambler models) used a 6.5-inch headlight bucket with an imbedded round speedo.......all have a separate small red or blue light-indicator to tell you if the headlight is on.......later models have a high-beam indicator in the speedo........so did the early CB450 aka Black Bomber.  All have the same speedo drive as the CB750.  I have several CL77 buckets and speedos in various condition........the tricky part is getting a good rubber 'nesting' ring for the speedo contact in the bucket.  The speedo faces range from several shades of gray to a very dark blue. New units show up on ebay from about $200 and up.  Used ones can be lubed with Teflon-Spray and turned-back with a little work.
