New piston, old cylinder needs bore?

Finally ordered parts for my 1970 ct70 and i got a new piston and rings, old one was fried.
now ive heard that a piston and chamber wear together, and if you are putting in a new piston you NEED to get the cylinder bored, not just honed.
i honed the cylinder and it looks good to me no abnormal wear. is there something im missing? can i just throw the new one in?

I've never heard that. I know you need to hone and use new rings, though.

Just measure the bore and ensure that it's within spec. I just rebuilt neighbour's z50; I got gaskets, piston, rings, pins, clips and new cylinder, honed already, for $107 to my door on ebay.

as long as the cylinder is within spec there is no reason why you cant just fit a piston , make sure you measure it accurately if its ok just fit a piston .
