fingers crossed! Legs too!
« on: September 30, 2012, 10:40:02 AM »
Just got off the phone. I have a lead for a running CB 750 motor and two (2) sets of carbs. 71/72 model he thought. Box of other stuff also.

Told me he had a Yamaha 750 three cylinder he sold to a neighbor who hasn't done anything with it. I'm hoping it's complete or a least all there. Might be to far gone. Not many details but he will check for me.

Maybe a TX? Heck, it might be a Kawi.

Going on Wendsday. Nothing is going anywhere. Will see.  ::)

Yamaha made an XS 750 3 cylinder 4 stroke.  That probably the engine he has.

The engine is a Honda 750, 71/72 model.

The bike is a Yami 750 3 cylinder. Might be an XS or maybe a GT. He sold it to his neighbor years ago but he never did anything with it. Could be complete, in pieces or gone.

What is a GT Yamaha 750? Never heard of one. I do know if it's an XS I would walk on by. Why did Yam make an XS850 shortly after?
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

I have no idea what it is other than it was his at one time. A 750 three cylinder is all I know.

Could be a rusted out nightmare but as long as I'm out there it's always worth a look.

The only xs750's I seen here were usually in a shed being worked on. :) Never became popular here because of engine issues, I can't remember the details.

Clarifying...Yamaha made XS750 4 stroke, shaft drive triple (I had one and it kinda sucked :'(), Suzuki made GT750 made 2 stroke triple, water cooled, Kawasaki made H2 750 two-stroke triple
If it works good, it looks good...

Setup a meet tomorrow for the CB 750 motor and carbs. The Yami is in fact a 1973 XL 750. A few issues will mean a pass however he has a 1982 CB 900 C with 24,000 K on the clock. Says it's in very nice condition.

Now, it's not my cup of tea but if the price is right and titled it just might be in my garage.

Thanks for the feedback on the Yami.

You still have me stumped with Yamaha XL750.

I typically don't like the 80's japanese cruiser look, especially the stepped seats, but those cb900/1000's really intrigue me. Can't really put my finger on it but if one came up at the right time at the right price I'd probably buy it.

Not one of my favorites either. Depends on condition. He states it's very nice.

We have all heard that before huh?  ::)

If the price is right with a title might just load it up. 24 K on the clock might dictate otherwise.

Well, I did! $2200 was way to much but the bike was very clean. Pipes looked like new.

The motor had issues including a broken rear upper mount on the left side. He told me once it was tightened against the frame you would never know.

Yeah, OK.  ::)

Carburetors were nice but would not sell without the engine.
