Would you touch a 74 CB360?
« on: October 07, 2012, 12:34:48 PM »
Ok, I know it isn't a four, but I respect y'all and theres not much info on these bikes out there.

I just found out about a supposedly pristine 74  CB360 owned by an elderly parent of a coworker. Haven't seen it yet, but I figure I'll ask my question before I see it this week.

I'm familiar with the cam chain tensioner issue and will walk if the fix wasn't made. If the fix was made, should I consider for a winter project or just keep walking? Thought my wife might like to ride it when she's out with me and the CB750.

I was thinking $600 to $700 if it does't need much. I've restored a few bikes, including my CB750 so I can do most of the work.

Can anyone shed some light on owning/restoring one of these things? What is a decent one worth?

I toured Hawaii on a rental years go and loved it.  Wouldn't replace my SOHC4 with one, but for the wife, def worth a look.

Harvey, My jr. year in HS 1974 I bought one off the show room at the local Honda dealer. Great little bike for local transportation. Never had any trouble out of mine. Made a bad decision and traded in on a 1975 MT250 2 stroke street/trail. Only bad Honda I ever had and my last 2 stroke.

I got one with the carbs glued shut, original tires, rusty chrome for 150.00 and had the repairs made for an additional 120.00.  It is a 1974,so that makes it a 5-5-5 bike. Had 7200 on the clock and now has almost 20,000. I check the cam chain occasionally and change the oil. Believe it or not,I am still running the old points on the thing.
I do like the six speed, and for the life of me,I cannot understand why Honda did not put an extra gear on the 750's.
For the fun I have had beating on this thing,I would surely buy another for 600.00 in nice original condition. You can hit 60MPH easy in 4th gear and ride at power 70MPH in 5th and still cruise at 70MPH in 6th,but at the condition mine is in,80MPH is about all it has in 6th, pushing all that wind.
These bikes are easy to work on

I would touch it...it has to buy me dinner first.

My very first cafe racer picture I fell in love with was a cb360.  I'm working on my cb750, I have the next two bikes planned out. But a 360, sounds like a good time.

I did a 360 last year. Nice little bike, but I did not like the vibration. When I was riding it I was wishing I was on my 750. Sold it soon after.

My first bike was a 360. Great bike for sure. I didn't have trouble with the tensioner.

I like my little 360, good city bike.
You can occasionally see the tensioner pop up on ebay.
She does vibrate a bit.
Good Luck

My first bike. I loved it! The only thing I ever had to do to it was have the carbs rebuilt but that was money well spent even at 19 years old (30 years ago). I think the weight to horsepower ratio is about the same as my 550 so it felt every bit as peppy (plus I am 25 lbs heavier as well). I'd buy another one if a killer deal fell into my lap.
