I've send the guy an email asking for the lenght of the tank. I don't want to spend more than $75 though, so I hope he believes in tank-karma.

Yeah I know. That tank is new too, so if he doesn't sell it cheap i'll go and find me an old one with bad paint. I wanted to repaint it anyway.

it is a beautiful tank - have you thought about maybe getting a 400 SS tank? I totally have tank-envy for that one. wouldn't be surprised if that's the next bike i get.

although you seem to appreciate the rounder lines of the Italian style, maybe not...?

Those are nice too RT......But if you poor gas in them they tend to last a short time only (so i've heard). $:-\$
@cbjunkie: That 400ss looks cool too. I think all tanks without the hinged door on the top like my stock one would make an improvement. But i like the Ducati tank better. Let's hope i can get it.

Got an email yesterday from a guy who purchased one of my CB350 alloy cafe tanks...he has it all painted and ready to install on the bike. Check this out.......paint is awesome!!

I would have left some small part unpainted, just to show that it´s an alloy tank...

You´ve done a good job on those 350-tanks.
Perhaps it´s time to start making a few for the 750 - from the look of this thread you´d make a small fortune!

Thanks guys!! I'd love to start making tanks for the 750s and 550/500s also. Just seems like there isnt enough time in the day to get to everything....but, I really enjoy making these tanks!!

So.....a question for you 750 and 550 guys. What kind of alloy tank would you prefer on a cafe project???

Well, I guess I´m not the right guy to answer this, considering I´ve already got the tank I want...
But if I had the choice I would definetly go for the CR-style.
I like the more rounded shape.

There are quite a few guys around who makes the CR-replica tank.
The problem is that if you want to use them on a roadgoing caferacer, you have to relocate your batterybox, electrics and oiltank due to the deep sump at the back.
The petcock is also located in the sump.

I predict a it would be a great seller if you made a CR750-tank without the rear sump and with the petcock in the same place as the stock tank.

Would make life easier for the cafe-people of the world.

A cheap price would also help up the sales.....

That great looking paint job sure does highlight the awesome tank that you built!
I also agree w/DME that it'd be nice to see some of the alloy showing but, hey, the tank
speaks for itself in looks alone. You've got to be proud of the products you turn out and you've
every right to be. Both those tanks, you show, are great pieces of work. Personally, I'd lean
more toward the one like on your 350. I like the way it slims down towards the rear of the
tank. Great to see more of your work.

I have to agree with DME about those rear sumps. On a street ridable machine you just cant have the rear sumps. Thats why all the tanks that I build.....are built without the rear sumps, attach to the stock frame mounts and have a petcock close to the stock location. Just makes the tank easier to use and really makes it easier to build.

MRico.......actually, just started last winter hammering out the tanks. I dont know what it was, but it just kind of seems to be easy to me. Used to hang out in the body shop owned by my best friend dad, as a teenager. Played around working on wrecked cars. Its really kind of weird, but i'll look down a piece of metal....knowing in my head where I want it to go.....then after making a few blows with the hammer/dollies.....I can get the metal right where I wanted it. I was showing a buddy how to shape the metal, in the garage once.......he was over there beat'n the shiot out of it. Came back a few minute later to check and he was all pissed off(but with a grin).....handed me the stuff and said....."I cant do this crap....YOU DO IT!!". Couple slaps with the hammer and a few bends......the panel was done.......looked over and he was laughing. He's a good welder....but, needs some help with the hammer...too much aggression.

Just wish I had more time too spend in the garage........

Since I want to do a CR tank on my 750 cafe, I would buy one that looked IDENTICAL to the real CR tank but used the factory mount points and didn't use the sump, so I wouldn't have to re-engineer the battery and electrics.

Give it the quick-release Monza filler of the pictured MeadSpeed unit and keep the price under $1000 and I'm in.

Hey, What can I say? I just call em' like I see em'. You seem to have a touch for the things that you do. Your 350 is totally awesome! The project, with the inverted forks, seems to be coming right along. You're making the gas tanks now and they are awesome as well! I mean, the results speak for themselves. You've heard the saying that "A Picture is worth a thousand words?" Well, there it is.

I keep wanting sort of an '80s BMW shape but with more a curve in the knee indent. Not as radical as a Gold Star tank, though. Stock length so a stock seat could be used. All curves/no angles, a little shoulder. And it fits my 400 !!!!!

I also like one of the tanks that Benjie guy made. I'm on an aluminium kick right now though. I need shoes, but I'll spend spend spend on my bikes.

I also want a tank for my RD60. Can you double the price and have one ready by Friday?
