Started in on a new one. It's a '74 Boss Maroon K4. I changed the oil and filter, put in fresh plugs and gas, and she fired right up...first time in twelve years

Not sure Terry. I think it's from a Goldwing, or a CB650. The gauges look like CB650 clocks I've seen. The forks are air shocks. It's a Tokico caliper, and a SOHC4 looking master cylinder.

Not to get it running, but a full cleaning is up next. They were dusty from dried gas, but not gummed up.

It's a "bitsa". That RH control is a DOHC, my K5 came with one too.

Bought a repro seat off ebay. $139 plus shipping

Seller had at least four recent happy customers with the same seat, so here's hoping I'm happy with it too

I think it'll turn out pretty nice. My dad found it through a guy he gives parts to, and I think he had seen my gold 750 in the alley or the shop one day recently and asked my dad if we wanted another one. It needs the regular stuff like brakes, cables, fluids/grease, and cleaning, but it won't take long to get it back on the road.

What gives with the Speedometer? Never saw a 750 that topped out at 85 mph. Frankenbike?

Hadn't noticed the top speed there yet! Don't know what the gauges are from, but they're not stock.

I've seen those gauges before, believe they are DOHC. I'd leave em unless you have another set. This ain't no proper restore, right?

One of my K5's came with a "el cheapo" repo seat, had a cracked plastic pan. Did not like it.

Hope yours has a metal pan.

Looking good mate, I reckon the whole front end is probably off a DOHC CB750K, like the one in the link. but whatever it's from, it looks good. That seat looks like a bargain, let us all know what it's like, Adam (Radam) might need one for his K6 resto.

I wouldn't be too fussed about the seats with plastic bases though, as long as they're a good quality item they should be fine, and have the added benefit of not rusting like metal bases do, especially when they sit on top of a lead acid battery. Cheers, Terry.

I've got four spare calipers from my haul a few months back. Good thing because this one is missing half. I may even have a spare fork or two. Only thing I don't like about the front end swap is that they left the K4 headlamp ears on, so there's a lip for gaiters that aren't there.
