Bump!!!
Okay - So yeah, I already KNOW the answer to this one - the CB750P7 Canadian-spec & possibly/likely Filipino-spec or "General-Export" spec, DUAL-DISC FIVE-BOLT 40-SPOKE WIRE-HUB which I'm lusting & lusting & lusting after.
The mystery which appears in THIS thread, is what 754 sez about the Hondamatic:
Yeah, I would have said F front end, but was wondering about the hub. They did make a 5 bolt wire hub on one year of 750 A..
Was this actually the case? Was there some special instance of Hondamatic which used the same or a similar hub? Could it have been the '79 CB750K SINGLE-disc front hub, with only the one rotor? Perhaps only a 276mm disc, or 296mm 5-bolt hub?
IF there's some special instance wherein "we'd" (I'D - me first!) FIND one such a DUAL-DISC 5-BOLT 40-SPOKE WIRE HUB???
I'm well aware of the Hondamatic with the COMSTAR and the 296mm single disc which is essentially the same old 6-bolt 9-rivet rotor except for the lack of that sixth bolt, and of course the smaller central 'boss' hole. But yeah, these special Hondamatic rotors - Heck, THIS is why I'm so ready to jump headlong into this 5-bolt wheel option, is 'cause I know I could have ALL of the different rotor options - Well, technically yes even the GL1000/CB550 276mm version of the 6-bolt 9-rivet discs. And then the DREAM-BIKE rotors I wanna make from CB1100F/CX500T/CX650T 276mm rotors embiggened to 296mm with Cast-Iron outer rings AND/OR the replica CB1100RB dished one-piece dished 296mm rotors -
(((And to top it all off I'd wanna modify a pair of REAR calipers to go up front, the first-year '75 GL1000 & CB750F1 opposed-piston calipers with the cast-in hanger arm - to bolt up to either standard 'F-type 276mm caliper hangers with enough 'meat' left on 'em for 296mm discs - this way perhaps we could even utilize the '81-'82 CBX / '81 CB1100RB caliper hangers which are already 296mm so as to render 'em effective for 316mm discs (just like the '96+ ST1100-ABS 43mm 1/2-TRAC fork had, or the single front disc on the 'Seven-Fifty' Nighthawk etc?) - Maybe they'd also bolt up to the TRAC caliper hangers on the 41mm TRAC forks of GL1200 or GL1500 maybe both even?)))
I'm gonna get hunting, of course! It's only one MORE endless fruitless parts search - What's the difference when I'm already looking for so much other crap?
"SEEK, and Ye shall FIND" I always say. Though what I MEAN by it, is that you've gotta search for something ELSE, and thereby happen upon the other thing entirely by accident. Seems to work all the time.
The really creepy thing though, that'll really put a spin on your head - Is ... Why do we always find things in the last place we look?
Spooky.
-Sigh.
