Is this an issue, bent wheel spacer
« on: October 18, 2012, 11:42:44 AM »
This is the rear wheel center spacer from a cb750k2. As you can tell one fin is bent the wrong way (my doing from stupidity previously). I'm worried if I bend it back part of it will snap but they'll be a bit of fin there. Can I just bent it back and hope for the best?

Yes you can.  It usually bends while you are getting acess to the bearing. Very common. The experts say to bend it first to make the bearing easy to get to.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Wait that confused me... So bend it back before I put it back in right?

Yes. Both of the ones I've done have looked like that when removed. Bent 'em back & reinstalled.
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Those tabs are there to make it easier to center within the hub (making it easier to get the axle through)

Just bend them back, or not - you'll be fine.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

If you are worried about breakage put a little heat on it to soften it up.
