I was recently given a K4 that had been sitting in either a garage or barn since 1990. I knew from the beginning I had to rebuild the carburators so that is the first thing I started on. The carbs were a real mess. I didn't know that gas could create varnish so thick. I did find many good ideas on this forum to get the slides unstuck. Well all the slides but one, which Boiling water, heat, carb cleaner, JB Blaster or just plain simple green could not unstick that nasty slide 4. I finally did get it out and quickly discovered the problem. The body of the carb is slightly distorted. I know this for the slide will freely go into the other carb bodies and none of the other slides will go into carb body number 4. The carbs are all 657b's. Does it matter if I replace that body with another carb that isn't a 657b? Another alternative is a set I saw on fleebay. A whole rack but all it say is fits 70-76 and they do look correct. Is this probably the case? I have 4 rebuild kits coming, plus all the parts from my existing carbs if the jetting is different, but is that the only issue I would encounter? I have read so much on this forum that I am now a little confused. My thinking is they would work but the jetting is possibly wrong.
