My next bike?

I think so. Been in negations for a week now. Owner needs to sell. 1983 VFR 750. Bike of the year by Cycle World Magazine.

Little four cylinder, water cooled fun machine.  8)

Carburetors rebuilt in February, new brakes. Plastic clean and the color is SO right!  ;)

Anyone familiar with this model?

Hi.I only rode one once just after they came on the scene.I was impressed with the smoothness of the engine.Tach was important to have any idea what rpm it was turning! One issue on early models was a recall to replace the camshafts.If this particular machine was involved check that this was done.    Rock On

TT,  I recently owned a fairly low mileage(22000) one a year or so ago-fast, smooth and comfortable even with the racing style riding position.  I loved it but had to sell before the tickets started piling up ::) ::)   It is so smooth that 85 to 95 feels like 60 to 65 on my other bikes. Photos of mine

Very nice motorcycle but plagued with camshaft problems. Eight revisions in one year after Honda finally admitted there was a problem.

I am still going back and forth on this purchase. What started at $2200 is now down to $1500. I offered $1200 two days ago. Seller motovated as the month end bills add up. Might offer $1275 later today.

It's a bike that would be fun but not needed if you know what I mean.  ;)

Wanted to add that the seller has lowered his price. 22 down to 18 down to 16 and now 15. All in one week.

Carbs rebuilt, new brakes. He sent pics of valve train before new valve cover gaskets. Very clean inside.

I'm a big fan of the VFR....had an '87 and now a 2000.  Great machines.  Smooth, fast, fun!

I have a neighbor who has one of these older bikes (pre gear-driven cams) and has more than 100k miles on his.  He rides it everywhere and hasn't had any engine issues that I'm aware of.  They can be reliable bikes.

I could not agree more. ;)

The pictures he sent me of the valve train looks good. He does not know if the cams were replaced. Reading my links above you still should do the upgrades which affects the price.

This thing is still in the fire. I'm not sure if I want it or not. We have been back and forth for 3 weeks. Times are tough but in Vegas, a lot worse.

I offered $1300 last week and was turned down. Text yesterday for $1200 which was the orginal offer I made. Seems like the closer it gets to the end of the month the more the price drops.

Would be a "fun" bike but geeze..you can only ride one at a time.  ;)
