Common CB350 Issues?
« on: October 27, 2012, 02:11:49 AM »
I ended up selling my 650 because I was tired of messing with it, and decided I wanted to find a bike that was a little easier to work on. So I've been on the hunt for an old Jap twin cylinder bike. I found a 1971 CB350 and am going to look at it this weekend.

So I was wondering if there are any common problems I should be looking for when I go and check it out?

The carb diaphragms tend to harden and then crack-a fairly expensive repair if one can find replacement parts.  Higher mileage ones will have cam chain wear if not properly maintained.  Barely adequate charging is an issue.  Swing arm bushings.  My first bike was a red/white 1969-I still have a soft spot in my heart for the 350 model.  A bit of a buzzy ride but a very reliable ride...Larry

Ditto.
I love my 350 and I ain't afraid to say it. It is an ideal vintage bike for someone who wants to enjoy everything about vintage cycling. There will be some maintenance involved but its all very straight forward stuff. Its really a solid choice and there is nothing to be aware of more than what MoMo says and the same thing you would check on any old cycle. Just do it.
