CB550F Broken Speedo Cable.
« on: October 17, 2012, 05:55:50 PM »
I had noticed lately that the front brake was making noise as I manouvered the bike around in the shed but didn't pay much attention to it. When riding the bike recently the speedo stopped working.
I found the speedo drive on the front axle had spun & cranked the cable around 90° & of course the inner cable broke.
I dropped the front axle down out of the forks & found the axle nut loose. I musn't have eaten my wheaties the last time I did it up, but that was a very long time ago.
Needless to say, the noise has stopped when I push the bike around as well.
Just sharing in case you hear the front brake squeaking as you push your bike around.
Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators.
We haven't met yet.
