to start is i have a 76 cb550f with 69A carbs like it should and they run great. I have a 77cb550k that needed carbs, i could not find carbs for a 77 on ebay so i bought thesehttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-CB550-CB-550-Four-CB-500-CB500-carbs-carburetors-Bodies-Restored-/330811300358?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d05e3da06&vxp=mtr, a set of 69A carbs just like my 76 has. i asked the guy if they would fit cause they do look a little different and he assured me they would. but they dont. Can anyone tell me why? from all me research the engine didnt change at all. The manifolds fit the engine and the carbs but not both and my throttle cables dont work either. help me please i just spent a lot of money on these and i hope to god i can make them work

I see what you did , thanks. and for completely rebuilt carbs that are polished and powder coated totally worth it. My local shop said 700 to a 1000 to rebuild them.

I know the carbs changed for the 78 model, I'm not sure about the 77K.

You should ask here first. Your shop is having a laugh.

they dont actaully touch old bikes but they said like 210 per carb plus removing them and reinstalling and scyncing them

I see all over youtube that the 77fs had 69As on them and the Ks have what i have to. so they should go on but not with either of the sets of manifolds i have now.

You still have the stock exhaust system?

The 069A carbs will work with the 77 CB550K engine.

You will not be able to use the choke knob and cable.
You will need intake manifolds, rubber carb couplers (Fore and Aft), and possibly the plenum that the rear coupler fit into) from any CB500 or Cb550 that is NOT a 77 or 78 model with PD carbs.
You will also need at least one throttle cable (and maybe both) for the non-PD carbs.

I suspect the jetting and internal adjustments of the 069A carbs will also need tweaking for proper operation, but a lot depends on the exhaust system you have selected.

That's all I can remember off the top of head. I'll post again if something else comes to mind.

i have a stock 4 into 1 for a 77 cb500f. but its on a k, and i have a new set of manifolds and cuplers that came with the carbs but they are the same size as what i already have. And like i said ive seen at least 50 on youtube 77fs with the 69a on them stock so it must go on but there has to be a different manifold, the guy who sold them to me had me pay extra for the manifolds cause he said they were different but there the exact same size and angle only thing different is the that the one he gave me have the screw where you can hook up the sync hoses. and my new 69a carb has 100 mains and 38 pilots

And thanks , and i knew that i had to get rid of the chock cable cause the 69as have a lever on the body for the choke. and both cables have got to go, wheni order cables should i get 77fs or something of an earlier year ? i think i can order 77fs since they use that 69a,

Pay me that much and I'll drive to DC and rebuild your carbs for you. That's insane. That's their "We don't wanna do it" price.

Just a shot in the dark here. Are you sure you don't have 2 left hand or 2 right hand manifolds there?
When you mount the manifolds on the head, are all the plugs for the sync holes facing towards the outside?

and i know, but you can mail your carbs to Carpy in cali and he will rebuild them and polish for 599, and this guy i bought these from selling them for 550 on ebay. they look amazing and well worth it. cause i didnt have to mess with it

I have since proven that the carbs i bought do come on 77fs, but the ks have the ones i have now. but why then wont they fit.

well i got them on, done deal, i still need to get new throttle cables though, I microwaved the new rubbers and they were still to stiff and wouldnt go, so i microwaved the old ones which are a little shorter anyways and me and my dad and brother pushed like hell for 30 min and got them on.Im wore out

The manifolds i have have the little screw on the botton for syncing them, that is the one you need for 69a s , i found out that the intakes are all the same, same angles and length and stud holes, only thing different is the hole for syncing, what i had to do what mount the manifolds first then put the right out of the microwave couplers on loosely , then the carbs, and still it was hard, but then went , then i tightened all the clamps down

The PD carbs are longer than the type ones. So, those couplers are shorter.

Type one carbs (069a) use longer rubber coupler tubes. They are a different diameter, as well.

To be clear the 69a's did go on but with a fight. and the space between the carbs on the 2 different model carbs is a good bit. over all the 69a's are 1/4 skinnier than the pds carbs & so none of the carbs line up really, also the diameter is different on the manifolds & both carbs, so the fit is even tighter than it would be

Below is a pic of the two couplers. The PD type is above, the 069a type is below.

The second pic is one of my 78 CB550K with the PD carbs installed. Resting on top of the frame is an air box and couplers used on 069A carbs.

So anyone know what throttle cables i need? Cause the dealer is telling me they are the same for a 77cb550 k & f, though one has the 69a and the other not. neither of my cables will work. What to do now ?

also the 69a carb has 2 fuel lines but my petcock only has 1 port, do i tee them together or get a petcock with 2 ports? my 76has 2 ports on it, but no 77s do ?

You can find the Honda parts numbers you need here:

You can Google search with the part number to give multiple sources to choose from.

You can use the same site to search part numbers for the K model, compare the numbers and learn if you need just one cable or both.

Looks like you only need the A cable 17910-341-000 If you take that number to your dealer, he could order it for you.

My 77 Cb550F has a single outlet fuel valve and splits the the single to two lines with a Tee.

The dealer i just checked says the pull on is different but the push is the same or so that what they tell me ? but to me there both too long for me to use , and i like the pics with the comparison, i learned it the hard way. but im using the old ones cause their shorter and had more play in them so i could actually get them on.
