Opportunity BLOWN! 1966 Black Bomber slipped through my fingers
« on: October 18, 2012, 05:38:11 PM »
A guy from work called me up and told me I need to come to where he was now. I told him I was in the market for a passport for my wife. He said there was a fixer for $250 everything there and straight tin. I get there and this guy had a garage and yard full of old vintage bikes. He buys them for somebody who ships them back to Japan. At the side of the house there was the black Bomber with a 1/4" of dust but everything there, no rust. I tried to get him to sell it to me but he said he couldn't. I couldn't believe he was sticking it a container to ship out of the area. It was the warehouse find story you read about in the vintage bike mags. I'm still shaking my head he wouldn't sell it to me. Oh well. Next time.

Don't feel too badly.  If he never intended to you sell then it really wasn't an opportunity. I hear stories of bikes going back to Japan by the container load. I think the harley supply is drying up so now it's onto the Japanese stuff. What else was this guy sending?

He was also sending a early 70's CB450K DOHC, CB350F (clean!), a Suzuki triple 2 stroke, Honda CL50 scrambler, older rolling chassis with motors but incomplete not sure what they were, some other pretty cool stuff. Even a couple of cars, Porsche 914, Datsun 240Z not clean but straight and rust free.

He has other bikes as well that belong to him or his friends; '66 305 superhawk, a CB400F, CB750K mid 70's a few CT90s in good shape, a Benelli 125 with a Wards badge on it,  etc. He was keeping all the the Hondas.

Almost forgot, the reason we found this guy is he is selling a 1976 CB750F supersport.
