Felt Rings for swing arms, here you go
« on: October 18, 2012, 06:51:27 AM »
As the title says if you are rebuilding your swing arm and are in need of compressed felt for the dust seal the inner ring of these sets fits fairly well. I got mine at advanced auto. Just make sure they are the kind with 2 sizes that come apart as the inner ring will fit but the outers are way to big.

I had been told to get some and just cut my own but no where I went has compressed felt.

Yeah, well done! Now, if we could just find these that fit in 750 PD carbs...

Admittedly they are a perfect fit but they'll work well enough.

As in: the carbs that came on 77/78 750F & K bikes.. they have felt washers that go either on the throttle linkage or the choke linkage - can't remember which. But either way, you can't find 'em and if you mess yours up you're screwed.

I thought those were impregnated with some chemical to prevent corrosion?

Honda still sells the felt rings for the swing arm btw.

I didn't feel any residue, I think their meant to block air and cushion from the terminals wiggling causing sparking/oxidizing. I stopped by 2 Honda dealers and both gave me stupid looks and tried looking them up with nada.

That's not uncommon! They are available, though, about $2 (plus $10 shipping!).

I planned on punching my own with craft felt...

Was going to use yellow felt for extra horsepower.  ;D

Yeah, well that doesn't surprise me.  It's PN 52145-283-000.

I'm pretty sure those battery felts do contain some sort of chemical to inhibit corrosion.
Whether or not that's an issue I don't know.
