Right Blinker and Low Beam not working
« on: July 05, 2006, 10:39:07 PM »
After checking every connection I can find, and making sure all the lightbulbs are in working condition, I"m still stumped.  I also opened up the turn indicator and

First of all, the low beam light bulb doesn't work, Both the Blinkers light up and the tail lamp works, but no power is sent to the low beam.

The second problem is the drivers side blinker, when the blinker is turned to the right hand side, the dash lights blink.  The Red blinker wire is connected into a 3 wire connection with a light blue wire which i belive is the correct one.

The last problem is the blinker relay has three wires next to it, but the relay itself is a 2 prong get up

I hate electrics but have managed to get Blinkers and lights working on my bike.

From the description you have given, I might suggest that you have a bad earth, if I interpret what you are saying about both blinkers working (I presume you meant both flashing at the same time)... if that's the case then definitely bad earth... time to find that crappy connection... happy hunting.. :)

the No low beam, could be a simple issue of the power not connecting properly or also a bad ground.

find the green wires, and check they are nice and tight where they connect to the headlight/frame/wherever etc.. it may help

apart from that I'm flying blind.. :)

Well i figured out the low beam was just burnt out, and the problem is the right blinker has a problem, when it flashes its' grounding out, I can't figure out how to follow the wires though,  Any one with a color wire diagraM?

What did your checking involve? Did you clean each connection including all grounds?

OK, Here goes on a nidiots test for blinkers.
you will need approx 4 ft of single core wire bared at both ends.
connect one end to the battery positive, making sure first that the battery is charged.
On each blinker there should be a black wire exiting from the stem which should have, if its original, either a light blue "sleeve" or an orange one near to the "bullet.
Disconnect this wire from the loom on each blinker in turn and connect the bare end of the 4 ft wire to the bullet MAKING SURE IT DONT TOUCH ANY METAL!!!
If the bulb dont light check, in order, bulb and socket then the ground

When you have all four working NOTE:- THEY WONT BLINK! reconnect to the loom

Go to the blinker relay which will have two or three wires on it. Having noted where they are connected disconnect the relay and connect together, using the 4 ft wire that you have DISCONNECTED from the battery, the grey and the black wires.

With the ignition turned on you should now get a steady light (No Blink) on one side at a time as you opperate the blinker switch--only one side means switch duff, nothing at all could be switch or loom..

When you have corrected any faults reconnect the relay and if it now dont come on or blink the relay is duff

Thats the complete test but it ASSUMES (making an ass out of u and me) that all the blubs are the correct wattage (21 wat) and that the loom is in good order
