Any idea on new Front brake master cylinder for 1975 cb550k
« on: November 14, 2012, 07:47:57 PM »
Guys I am looking for a master cylinder for my 1975 cb550. I have the stock brake caliper and am looking for a master cylinder that
1. Is a bit smaller than the huge stock one.
2. Will fit and work well for the stock front brake caliper believe its 14mm.
3. Is cost effective.

Wondering if I can use a master cylinder off a newer but older sport bike or something?  Any suggestions of what would work would be appreciated.  I ideally would get a nice one of eBay but not sure what bikes have the same size that I would need

Thanks

Don't have answer to no.1 and 2, but for no.3 I would just rebuild the old MC.

Some way some how I prefer the look of vintage bikes with period correct parts, don't matter how you cafe or mod it.  I mean, newer bikes = newer parts, vintage bikes = vintage parts. The crossover just don't look right...but that's just my opinion. Good luck on your search.

Check out the master cylinder for a SV 650.  Bore should be about right and the pot is divorced from the lever assy.

for my 750 I had to get a new one because of the bars I put on, I need the bango bolt to come out of the front, not the side and needed it to be smaller. I picked up mine off of ebay

works amazing and solved my problems

Guns_up, Since the one you purchased for your 750 is for a double caliper system (according to the description) I am not sure this will work for my bike since it is a single caliper system.

I don't know how cost effective it will be, both are $80, but it is your brakes.

Anyone Else have any ideas of something off a newer sportbike that would work for the 75 CB550K?  Looking for a detached fluid reservoir
