Your new improved milage has me thinking I need to put a Hondaman ignition on Pandora, my milage has never come close to the 40-50 some claim to get here. of course well see if improves when her new stock pipes go on today!

No, I was at a budget inn by I5 and hammer lane.

Spent some time working in Garberville, as well as Laytonville and Covelo. It would have been nice to have a bike handy for when I wasn't working...

Ah, so you were at the other Budget in that town. Looks like there was a Sushi nearby on the other side of the highway that would have been my dinner-place.

It's great following your route and progress on your site. You seem to be making good progress and taking lots of really great pictures. I'll bet the coast road yesterday was a fun ride with lots to see. I've been to San Fran a couple of times and it ranks as one of the best cities in N.A. We even had a chance to drive a rental car down Lombard Street - wish it had been a bike! There is so much to see and do in that city.

I've been to San Fran a couple times too. Wanted to drive the motorhome down Lombard St but they ain't having any of that.

Here's a device I came across that would be great for those long-distance tourers: http://www.findmespot.ca/en/index.php?cid=100 This is something you maybe should have considered getting Frank. They also have one that connects to an iPhone for enhanced capability.

On another note, are you going to swing by Sturgis for their big yearly event? It is happening Aug. 4-10 I believe.

Great to hear that you got your wheel bearings fixed and are on the way home now. Keep an eye on those front wheel bearings the rest of your journey.

This sounds like the place you stayed at last night. If it is, you should take a picture of your bike on the road in front.

Frank, I dunno if you are going by Babb, Montana, but the best steak I've ever had was at the Cattle Baron and the nearby Going to the Sun highway is not too shabby either.

Hmmm.... I'm seeing some mixed reviews here but my experience was absolutely top notch:

Yep, sorry, not trying to empty your wallet. It's a high dollar area, I spent an arm and a leg to stay one night at a nearby hotel, but the views are free..... and sublime.

Yes, I stop at McDonald's at least once a day while travelling. If more than a coffee or $1 drink with wifi are on order, the a couple of $1 buffalo ranch chicken sandwiches are good. I haven't had a Big Mac on this trip yet.

I use the wifi to check email, map, and trip adviser for motels.

I would be all over McDonalds on a trip like this just for the cost of sodas and they are everywhere. Doesn't mean that alone for the whole trip. Gotta eat good at least once every couple of days.

I think I've stumbled upon the ultimate road trip menu: motel coffee and whatever breakfast they offer, a foot long sub at subway for brunch, a $1 soda with refill and wifi at McDonald's in the heat of the afternoon, and a six-pack with a bag of peanuts for the evening.

We carry a small cooler on our travels, box of Cheerios, half gallon of milk for breakfast, for lunch, loaf of bread, pb&j, water, apple, find a park with a playscape and a picnic table in the shade. Mom makes sandwiches, Kids run around, dad take a snooze.

Where do you plan to enter Canada? I'd stay as far north as possible for the best riding.
