1976 CB 550 Cafe Build

So I picked up this 1976 CB550 for 400.00 bucks and a guitar last year and have been slowly working on it and other bikes at the same time. After reading build after build on this very informative site I have decided to post a build and hopefully get some of your wisdom and ideas on this undertaking. At first I had the intention of doing a quick conversion and just reselling the bike but I have really grown to love this little machine and the incredible examples here on this site and now I will be doing the full conversion from the frame to the motor and then some. My son will be helping me so he can get a feel for the workings of a motor and how it works from the inside out. I have already done some work to it like the paint for the tank and the seat. The seat is from Dimecity and i will be putting the battery and electrical back up underneath the hump in the seat. So I need to find a smaller battery to accomplish this. The bars right now are clubman but I will look into clip on bars also to see if they look better. I have redone the front forks with new seals and paint on the lowers but I really like the idea of another CB50 on this site that put R6 forks up front so I may get some more advice and go that direction just so I can have a more modern feel to the front end. So let me try and post some pictures and away we go.

flats, welcome to the forum. Good to see another '76 being redone. I get how addictive these machines can become, I'm on my second CB and 6 months into my '76 550 rebuild. Look forward to some pics and following the rebuild.

Thanks for the welcome! I am in the process of tearing the bike down right now and have plenty of pictures and will get them up as soon as I can figure out how to shrink them for this format. I am just finishing a 1982 GPZ 750 and will post some picks of that one too. Fun stuff!!
