Basic bearing question
« on: October 06, 2012, 01:51:14 AM »
I'm trying to order Green crank bearings. it's my understanding the shells are ordered top half and bottom half. The part numbers from the chart 13317-425-003 pertain to I'm assuming the bottom half how do I know what part number I need for the other half.

The two halves are the same, so you need 12 10 of the same p/n.

Just looked up the price.  Ugh-  I've got an order of these to look forward to as well. :(

Yep, they are all separate halves, but fit both on the top and the bottom.

I also need to order some bearings for when I get a replacement crank, and definitely not looking forward to it.

You need 10 shells for 5 main journals.

Good catch- not sure what I was thinking there!

I'd like to see you get one set of greens to start (2 halves). Use these to plastigauge each of the 5 journals. You'll likely need a set of greens in there somewhere. If you order what the manual tells you to and you have wear on the crank journals you will need to order more bearings. I've never seen different bearing shells for top and bottom locations. There's a recent tread about this. The p/n you posted is good for both top and bottom. If your engine needed all green shells you would order 10 pcs.
