Protector case

Number 2 in the diagram. Seems like it was used only in limited numbers in production.
Does it make sense to ditch it? The O-ring chain chews on it little bit and the choice between this part and o ring chain is a no brainer.

Hi.You can remove the case protector with no worries.Ideally use an 18 tooth sprocket and a top quality chain coupled with proper maintenance..Today's chains are far stronger than anything that was available back when the protector was introduced.It also did not perform as designed as when the chain broke it drove the protector through the case!!       Rock On
