All cb 750 have shell bearings..not sure what you are saying, or meaning.
What I am putting out there is..does anyone know of a 970cc or bigger cb 750, that got over 40k on the lower end without rebuild? I do not, but know of many stickers that have done so..

I left "other" out of that last post.

Thats my point Frank, none of the bikes sporting all the newer parts have 40,000 on them yet, I expect my bike to run cooler than an earlier big bore Honda because of the nikasil bores and modern alloy's in the block, modern oils are better and there won't be any slap in the chains either with the primary chain adjuster and the friction coatings should also help and the injection should keep it running well, so , YES, i expect my engine goes way past 40,000, if it doesn't it will still be fun... 8)

Most high mileage 750's are stock and ridden on the open road (that's how they get the high miles) at a reasonable pace without drag racing. That's why you're not going to see a 100,000 mile 1000  ::) so that's a pretty irrelavent situation.

I tore mine down and internal chain issues were just one of the reasons. Rode the #$%* out of it for ONLY 30,000+ miles at many blasts above 10,000rpm and the internal chains were stretched and rattling. The last 25,000+ were with a bolt in 812/cam combo and not a techie build so it had a little more power but not what it was capable of. After recently putting it together with mostly new guts (chains included-new STOCK primaries and Tsubaki cam) I can't say that it's ever been that quiet but it's hard to find a sound bite from 1975. I'm thinking the issue here is how you ride and maintain ANY bike.

Let's face it Jerry, it's an F, and deep down you were trying to kill it so you could buy a K, so the kids would stop throwing rocks at you.......... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yeah, that's what I want a Lime Green K just like your's  ;D The problem with throwing rocks at an F is they couldn't throw hard enough and fast enough to catch them. And the problem with throwing at a K is they throw way out front too much and the K doesn't get hit either.
