The weekend started off well: Cycle X parts showed up! Or at least some of them... Apparently they shipped 2 boxes but for some reason shipped one Fedex and one USPS... I don't get it but oh well.
Sweeeeet. Everything was packaged well...
In this! All packaged up in the crate I sent to them plus extra padding.
Nicely refreshed head. It was glass beaded, surfaced top and bottom, new guides pressed in and reamed, superflow valves installed w/valve job, new springs, and titanium retainers.
Lookin fresh!
Doesn't get much cleaner than that.
Cylinders also glass beaded and surfaced, bored +.25mm, and honed to finish size.
Lovely.
Balanced crank. They said it was out 6g and now it bang on. Balanced out as nicely as their drag bike he told me. Cool!
I also had them pull the ball bearing plugs out and clean the oil passages then retap the hole for NPT plugs.
I can read the letters on my crank now. Doesn't really matter at this point but just neat to see.
Sent my rods back all packaged up. He didn't do anything with them but I thought he might need them to balance the crank... guess not!
My degree wheel and some sealant.
Super gasket kit.
All the seals and o-rings.
Looks like he stamped my initials in the cylinders and heat. Pretty neat.
Put a helicoil in near the cam chain tensioner hole.
A view of the new guides lookin purdy.
Then I spent several hours going over everything with varsol, a rag, and a screwdriver. Then I painstakingly taped everything. This took way longer than I imagined... as usual.
You'll note I'm repainting the MC and a couple covers. I wasn't happy with their finish the first time.
Ran to the hardware store and picked up an extra paint just in case. Figured I wouldn't need it but then when I got back I noticed that one of the ones I had already was the wrong color! I do have a little bit of luck! lol
Hardware store spoils... I treated myself to the T handle allen wrenches since I've got the allen head bolt kit on the way.
I re-murderized the room one lats time (hopefully).
After the first coat.
Last coat and it's looking better than it did the first time. Woot!
Hopefully I got all the nooks and crannies... there are a lot of them!
Well I was hoping I would get all my Cycle X stuff before this weekend and was hoping to get my DSS stuff but I guess not. Oh well, I'm pretty certain I'll have it before next weekend. have a few things I can keep on working away at in the mean time anyway.
