Came across one locally, asking price is $1100, got him down to $800. 9k plus miles.  Took it for a test ride, motor's good (carbs recently overhauled and synched w/ pods) idles good, shifts fine. Now the not so good- missing side covers, electric starter not working, aftermarket pipes too big causing metal on metal contact when using kick starter, front brakes not so good(cable may just need tightening adjustment)? Same for throttle, reupholstered seat, and non working seat latch. I think I can fix all the mechanical issues w/out spending too much sooo, you think $800 is fair or can I squeeze a few more bucks off?  Btw, this thing is almost half the weight of my cb750 k7, feels like a moped compared to big Bertha!

I expect this to be moved to the Other Bikes section real soon but nice find! The pipe issue could be remedied with some sort of extender but they look nice. There is one of these cb200 in a back yard down the street from me that's been sitting for a long time. Too bad too because its rusting away and the seat is deteriorating. I thought of asking the owner to give it up to someone that will fix it and ride it again but its a 4-plex and not sure who owns it. Fun little city bike for sure.

Don't expect much from the front brake. It's a poor design.

As a general rule, anything that is road worthy is always worth at least a grand.  Squeeze if you can but if you end up paying the eight bills you will be OK.

ditto what magilla said, although your local market may vary on the 1000 figure.  That's about right for around here, tho.

Great little bikes!  My older brother bought one ~1 year old in 1975, sold it to my mom a year later, and she still owns it!  She doesn't ride it anymore, but dad still does.

its not a great price, but not a bad one.  I just picked up this one for $330.00 with spark and titled, just needed the tank cleaned and carbs cleaned.  Yeah strange front brake.

My missus bought me one for our last anniversary, it is a fun little bike, a little rough around the edges but a nice little bike none the less.  That front brake is something else isn't it, it sort of slows you down.  I've heard of an upgrade to hydraulic using 350F parts, I'm not sure on what exactly needs to be done.

Considering the missing covers, and wrong pipes even 800 is too high. You will have to put several hundred to find those parts(if you can) and then have a bike worth a grand.  Starter repair could be easy or costly. It is a 500$ machine. My .02...Larry

Ha, I was wondering where this thread went! CB's around my area generally go for more than others. This one is in NYC, saw it right before Sandy hit. Owner did say that he was putting it in a garage so it should be ok. Oh and btw, no rust in tank and not coated either so that's a def plus.  I'll try to squeeze another $100 off I can, will keep you guys posted!

I'm gonna stick up for the front brake. Mine worked admirably for such a simple machine. It worked better than the hydrolic brake on my 350.
