speedometer gearing?
« on: May 13, 2005, 11:20:34 PM »
Hey guys, I've fitted a front end off a FZR 600 to my CB750,  yes it pretty much bolts right up,  except I'm wondering if I'm going to need a yamaha speedo, to go with the drive unit off the yamaha front wheel??  Or will the honda and yamaha have the same ratio?

Is it just the tachs that rund different ratios?? if so what whats the dillio? where can I find out?

Ah.Not sure about this one. The speedo gearing is of cour dependant on the pitch of the thread on the brass worm in the speedo drive, so you started off right by using the Yam drive to match the Yam wheel. However, thinking back didnt they used to market little custom speedos for different makes cos some WERE different at the clock end??? Best idea is to fit it up as it is, then get someone to pace you on a bit of quiet road and check if your meter reading is correct.
