Did you mask the spokes before you painted the hubs?

IW

no iron man,,i painted the spokes aswell,i just have to steel wool a little over spray of the rims, the photos are doing this thing justice!

Oh gotcha! I've been debating if I should attempt to un-lace my hubs to paint them. Was worried about getting them trued up properly. On the other hand it's tough to properly prep a hub that is still laced to the rim.

i rarely have a beer on a week day stevo, unless you come and have one with me!!ill paint those rusted sections with aluminium colour heat paint,,i dont want to pay to have them dechromed, this is project peasant dont forget!,itll add to the overall finish of the bike, not much to show yet,,been wire wheeling rusty bolts and painting brackets etc,,had a fiddle and got the front and rear guards on,the part numbers for the 500 and 550f show the same for the rear guard,,this one wouldnt fit properly,,the two holes at the upper hoop were spaced differently and the blinker mounts were way off bringing it too far forward?out with the drill and make it fit,got the rear brake stay and pedal on,a bit of satin black on the fork upper tubes,i already have a pair of those clamps for the headlight.

Those would be difficult to wrap with the pipes so close together.  I tried it on a set of no-name headers, and once the pipes got within half an inch it became pretty tedious to make it look right.

Did you find some HiTemp silver Dave?  They'll look good as long as the color's all the same.

Lookin' great Dave.  I like the idea of the peasant rebuild.  Anyone can throw money at a project to get it done.  Using talent and resources to put things together is better in my book.  Keep up the good work and thanks for posting the pictures and the write up.
I sure like the lines of that Supersport tank.  I might like to have one of those on my project.  But then I already have a decent stock 500 tank... maybe I'll just use what I have available to me now.

assembled the front brake master and caliper,it bled straight up,i used a new bleed screw/steel pipe and lower hose,,i still want to find a new upper hose or get one made,i wont skimp here!i can feel the old original upper one pulse as i pump the lever whilst the new lower one stays solid, layed the loom over the frame and see what goes where,,im lucky here its never been cut up!

rattle can satin blacked a dented 500 tank to get the feel of how the bike might look in satin black cheap peasant paint.
