Hurricane Sandy

Hold on to ya hats over there. I hope nobody comes to grief with the latest storm brewing off the East coast.
Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators.
We haven't met yet.

Frostyboy,
Here in upstate New York in my little town we've been making ready since Friday. We got wiped out by Irene because we've never seen anything like it, now we know that we aren't insulated from disaster just because our location is so far from the coast. The mountains that have protected us over the years  have been battered and new paths have been made naturally down the mountains to shed water, leaving a safe evacuation path for us very unpredictable.
High winds could prove deadly for many, falling trees, flying debris, and our houses are built for gale force wind ( around 50mph) and we are expecting higher.
The expected power outages  for extended periods of time will be hard for many.
Here on the North of the storm we'll get rain , but folks to the west of the storm are expecting up to 2 feet of snow and cold weather.

This is supposed to be the storm of the century boys, please try not to take excessive chances .
There's allot of good members here that will be in harms way, and I know that good people are the first to stretch out a hand for someone else . Be careful gentlemen. My thoughts are  for you and your families, be alert , be safe, and be together.

This will bring early season snow for the areas that are to get it. It 's likely to be heavy wet snow bringing down all sorts of tree limbs.. more power outages.  :-\

A real shame on all fronts, but you have to ask, what were they doing out there under the forecast conditions.  ???

I asked myself the same question Bob. At noon the news said they were trying to get around the storm to Fla but had lost engine power. I don't suppose they could sail in that mess.

Worked steel construction in lower Manhattan back in the 60's. We had one only half that tall lay down in the street one day. What a mess! Some folks who drove to work that day had to take the subway home.  ;)

They have told the people on the street 54th st they need to move to lower floors in their buildings. The whole area is blocked off. Debris is starting to fall.

Thanks to everyone for their concerns and blessings!!! We're in the eye of it now and the wind is kicking ass. I just went for a walk out in the street, down to the corner. It was really amazing how strong Mother Nature can be. The wind was blowing straight at me, it was like riding at 70 mph but standing still. Actually quite humbling. Our windows are rattling and the power is flickering but everything's o.k. Although forgot to get coffee filters, any suggestions Guys??  BBD
